Shrove Tuesday saw a gathering of 25+ folk of all ages for a lunchtime Pancake feast.
We gathered in the Hall at around noon and as people arrived we were invited to make a list of words containing the word 'pan (e.g. pancake, saucepan)
When most people had arrived the pancakes were served - over fifty, with a choice of toppings - the usual suspects (Lemon, Orange, Syrup, Marmalade, Jam - Yum!)
While we were eating there was a Shrove Tuesday Quiz and a Shrove Tuesday Word Search to do.
Of course the grown-ups took much longer to do this than the kids, so there was a 'pancake race' to burn off a little of the energy gained from eating the pancakes.
Then we shared the 'pan' - words, checked out the Word-square, and discovered the answers to the quiz, all the time learning about Shrove Tuesday and Lent - that time in the Christian calendar leading up to Easter.
